Between July 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009, Singapore made 62 data requests and less than 10 removal requests. 50% of removal requests were fully or partially complied with. Malaysia made less than 10 removal requests, of which all were rejected.
Google received 62 requests from Singapore police and other law enforcement agencies, over a six-month period between July and December 2009. Google were asked to surrender information on its users. This information could include what a user was looking for, when and where he used a Google service like Blogger, and even the contents of his Gmail account. What is the difference between removal requests and data requests?
Removal requests ask for removal of content from Google search results or from another Google product, including YouTube. Data requests ask for information about Google user accounts or products.
